"REMIXES"

I would say it had been around a year or so after I launched the website that someone wrote to tell me about a Pink Lady album which came out in 1990 called "Remixes" and he would send me a copy on cassette (remember them?). At the time, I had zero knowledge about what a remix was, it was later on when I learned it was a process where the original vocals from a song were matched with all new music, and when I listened to this album, I was absolutely floored. Right off the bat was "Southpaw" (Rock the Paradise Mix) which had been reimagined as a hard driving rock number, complete with pulse pounding drums and wailing guitar riffs that would've done Eddie Van Halen or Eric Clapton proud. Next was my all-time favorite PL song, "Wanted" (Happy Jack Mix), done as a throbbing, take no prisoners power pop song, but what blew me totally and completely away was that Mie and Kei sang it IN ENGLISH! And yeah, the girls sounded pretty darn good if I do say so myself. That was followed by "UFO" (Adamski Mix), a smooth, smoky, jazzy version that would've brought the house down in any Jazz club as it had plenty of heart and soul, "Nagisa no Sindbad" (Bio R. Acid Mix) was a relentlessly peppy, foot tapping Eurobeat number filled with a great deal of energy while "Kiss in the Dark" (House Odyssey Mix) was a power packed, skin tingling, dance club rocker featuring new English vocals by the Ladies. The final track was "M & K Hit Mix" which was a delightful mish-mash of Pink Lady hit songs from "Pepper Keibu" to "Kiss in the Dark". For anyone who's listened to "Remixes", you already know just how amazing it is, hearing PL songs reimagined in new and different ways, and if you haven't, its worth getting your hands on this remarkable album.
